Application modernization on AWS
I take your application from a single machine to containers and managed services, without rewriting what works: a pilot first, then the rest.

01When it makes sense
- Everything runs on one machine: if it goes down, everything does.
- Scaling means buying a bigger server.
- Every deploy is manual, and scary.
02How the work goes
- 01
Assess
The current architecture against Well-Architected: what goes to replatform, what to refactor, and what stays.
- 02
Mobilize
A pilot: one service in containers with its CI/CD, before the rest is touched.
- 03
Migrate & Modernize
The rest in waves: state leaves the server, database and cache become managed.
- 04
Handoff
CI/CD, observability, runbooks, and your team operating.
03What is included
- Containers on Amazon ECS or EKS.
- Database on RDS, cache on ElastiCache, files on S3.
- CI/CD and infrastructure in Terraform.
- Observability with Amazon CloudWatch.
What is not
- Rewriting business logic. If a refactor is needed, it comes out of the assessment with its own price.
04Records
Two real modernizations: a VPS onto ECS, and a VM onto containers.
05Questions
- Does the application need rewriting?
- No. A replatform changes where it runs and how it is configured; the business code stays.
- How much does it cost?
- It comes out of the assessment: with the inventory I put together a quote, and you approve it before anything starts. What AWS bills is pay-per-use and goes straight to AWS.
- What if my team does not know containers?
- They take part from the pilot on, and the handoff includes runbooks and a handover session.
